Talks About Custom Bike Building....

 RMS Choppers

RMS owner and bike builder, Todd Rancourt, with the RMS Jackal.

Many of the custom bike shops today are not much more than shops that assemble components out of a catalog and call it a custom bike.   Yes, it is ‘custom’, but if you want something that is truly one of a kind then you are going to have to look just a little harder.  For close to the same money, you can get in touch with a custom bike fabrication shop.  Whether it is a completely new bike or modifications to your current ride you may want to find a full service fabrication shop. There are a few around, we’d like to tell you about RMS Choppers.  The difference is obvious.   Yes, some things do come from a catalog but many components such as the frame, sheet metal, and selected components are fabricated in-house.

In 1995, Rancourt Motorsports/RMS began as a hobby in a basement workshop. A passion for motorcycles and an artistic touch launched RMS Motorcycles in 2000.  They quickly established a custom dealership, also offering after market parts and service to motorcycle enthusiasts at competitive prices and rates.

RMS' unique quality motorcycles and superb customer service has influenced positive recognition. RMS customizes to the owners desire. Service includes full repairs, welding, custom paint, body work, and fabrication. Assistance with part orders and detailed knowledge is available to the growing novice, wanting to build their own motorcycle. State inspection and emergency road service is also available. Now that’s full service!

In 2003, RMS moved to their current 6000 sq. ft. location at 249 Great Western Road in South Dennis to keep up with growing customer demand.

The design process always begins with a discussion between the customer and Todd Rancourt, the master bike builder behind RMS. Todd talks with the customer and comes up with a design according to the customers wishes. To get there he asks questions along the lines of what kind of riding, how often, how far, how long, whether there will ever be a passenger, and the style of chopper - tall, short, long and so on. And, of course, the budget. Then the paint is discussed. Perhaps a theme, flames, graphics, or murals. There is no limit on designs.

Once the design is agreed on, he puts a four page spec list together, listing all of the parts and an optional upgrade, as well as price, build time and a full two year warranty.  You will get a bike built to your measurements to insure many hours of riding pleasure. The frame, handlebars, and controls fit you like a glove.

In their Fabrication Department, the sky is the limit. They bend, shape and hammer metal into any shape you need or desire. They build their own frames in both rigid and softail configurations. Additionally, they make their own handlebars in a number of styles, and build many one-of-a-kind parts.  They offer MIG and TIG welding, and chrome service that is 2nd to none.

Their limited edition "Shockwave" chopper frame is one-of-a-kind with it's lightning bolt downtube. Comes in rigid or softail styles.  You should talk to Todd about all the rake and stretch options.
Because their "Dragontail" is custom built in-house, it is available in rigid or Softail styles and in any stretch or rake
